Online Livestock Showing - an antidote to social isolation!
« on: March 20, 2020, 09:20:43 pm »
Given the "subject we don't want to talk about" which has resulted in the cancellation of a good number of our agricultural and club shows, I am trying to set up one or more "online livestock shows" with the assistance of Cloudlines.

The idea is to hold a "virtual" show along traditional lines, with people turning out and showing their animals at home, videoing it and submitting the videos (edited to specified criteria) for judging.  We'll look to get respected judges per breed/species etc who will judge based on the videos.  There will be entry fees and prizes etc.  We're also hoping to be able to add a facility for the animals to be marked as "for sale, loan or stud" etc as a means to help people who may be unable to use the normal options of showing and market sales to drum up business.

If anyone is interested in helping to get this off the ground, wants to contribute ideas (in terms of which classes we should have in the show or shows, functionality we may not have thought about that could be useful to people, judges who may be willing to get onboard etc) then can they please join the new group I've just set up on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/645805549605638/invited/.

Feel free to share the link to the group with anyone who may want to join.  We're considering hosting breed specific shows as well as traditional "county" style shows.
