Are you looking to buy fleeces to make into rugs to sell, or are you looking for people who want their own fleeces made into rugs?

I'm interested in how you  wash them. Do you just rinse in cold water, or use a machine with soap/detergent to get the grease out?

Hi, for a rug 30 X 50 inches (the loom and I have yet to go metric) the cost is £150 incl postage, we do a small fire side size 25 X 40 for £100. We do a trade price for 5 or more as many farmshops and breed groups are now selling them. We can send a sack to make sending the fleece easier. What fleeces do you have?  Cheers Chris https://www.facebook.com/coloursfromthecroft

Hi Mel, for that size around 3 kilo depends a little on the breed. Chris

Does your rug making process work with alpaca fibre?

Yes, in fact it seems I work these days with more Alpaca (and llama) than sheeps fleece. If you can pop over to my facebook page you can see the latest rugs from Alpaca. https://www.facebook.com/coloursfromthecroft

Thank you, Chris H. We have 7 Soay sheep.
Is there fleece suitable?
Would there be enough from 7 do you think?

Is to shorn? or rooed? either is workable and 7 fleeces would do it, if not the larger then the smaller size.

They are rooed but we cut stubborn fleece off using dress making scissors!

Mixture of colours.

I swapped last year's fleece with someone living locally for some prepared fleece for my needle felting so it would be this year's fleece in the spring.
