wool washing and felting!!!
« on: October 18, 2008, 09:02:19 pm »
We now can offer fleece processing in the Blackdown Hills!!

I have a small subsidiary of Woolly Shepherd called Woolly Waste and have just secured funding for a scouring machine( which is like a huge washing machine) to add to the carders and felting table already installed. All of this kit is available for hire with free training in its use so you can come along and be trained in the safe operation of the machinery and then can hire it to wash n dry your fleeces and/or card them and make huge quantities of felt!
Or.....once washed you can get it spun by hand or if sufficient quantity at Coldharbour mill, which at present can only process large quantities (always worth getting together with other breeders and doing a large cooperative quantity)

Fine wool is good for making into knitting wool.............but any wool can be made into felt with our machine!!
Felting tuition...(free) is available NOW and the kit for felying available now!! The scouring will be available from January at the latest.
Photos here of felt that can be made...........this is Ouessant , Zwartble and Jacob mixed

Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
