Hi All,

New member here from Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

I get my first allotment in 2 weeks and can't wait to get started.

I am looking at breeding and selling rare breed ducks and chickens as well as growing as much as possible to feed my small family. This is all new to me and I will be calling on as much advice and info as you all wish to give.

Thanks
Phil

Hi Phil and welcome.  My first step towards having a smallholding was a couple of allotments in Edinburgh.  I loved them  :garden:   .  I was glad to get away from the little hitlers on the committee, but I did so miss the camaraderie of all the other lovely allotmenteers when we moved on.  We weren't allowed to keep livestock on ours, and couldn't grow more than a small proportion of flowers, and..... as I said, little hitlers  :roflanim:   However, we did get all the horse manure we could use from the nearby Army barracks, and wonderful piles of autumn leaves for leafmould - I miss both of those too.
I hope you too love your allotment.
