Hi, I have my first two pigs, Welsh Whites, they are 21 weeks now.
Two days ago during the evening feed, I noticed a small amount of blood on the back of one of the pig's front foot. I assume that its a small cut caused by something sharp they have rooted up. I couldn't see an actual cut due to the mud on the foot and decided to monitor.
The next day and this morning she has a limp. Should I be bringing her indoors to a shed to try and clean her foot and get some antibacterial spay on? I cant see cleaning while she is in the feild being of any benefit as would be straight back in the groud which in places is muddy. Do pigs respond ok to having their feet picked up or should I watch out or get a vet?
They are generally very happy, they have a big overgrown outdoor space that they are clearing and their pig arc is dry and snug. She is eating and drinking fine.
Any advice very welcome, thanks.
