Aberdeenshire council are warning us that there could be a shortage of water over the coming months due to not enough rain this winter. Given out a helpline number for those with private wells. I know we did not get snow but I felt we had plenty of rain due to flooding. Not enough it seems and I have to say the ground is rock hard and in places cracking. We were down cutting the Willow trees and it has never been so dry down there, no frog spawn this year. As we are on lock down, the wood is being used to make fence post. OH idea. Might not last long but will do to replace broken ones for now.

Really??? I thought this winter was really really wet!
Its was around here in the Midlands at least! The spring however is very dry so far.
Any bets for another drought?

Oh wow. We're near Stirling, and had several months where it rained every day (I know, because I empty troughs each morning before feeding). I've also never known mud like it

I guess the North East just has a very different climate!

They say to put the wires stapled onto a bit of wood which is nailed to the tree so the tree pushes the wood away rather than growing round the wires.

South Wales: heavy flooding during all those storms, but higher springs dry already.
Plus fires are already a problem on the mountains, usually from arson $:-\$

Given out a helpline number for those with private wells. ……. interesting here (SWales ) 2 years ago when we had full on drought and several friends of ours had a private water source which ran dry the local council said ' tough your problem' and wouldn't even help sourcing bowsers. (which people were willing to pay for water) Only if you could prove very young or vulnerable residents would they even help with drinking water.
