My wether has thick blood clots in his urine
« on: August 28, 2019, 03:47:38 pm »
Hi,

My 5 year old wether is having health problems.

A couple of weeks ago or maybe less than that, he was not his usual self. He wasn't eating much and didn't come to see me which is weird. He was also lying down a lot. He was like this for a few days and then seemed to perk up and be his usual self again. I thought maybe he had just eaten something bad. Today he is his usual self but I just witnessed something really not right. His urine was bright red and then a couple of minutes later I saw a thick blood clot hanging from his pizzle. I'm just trying to find as much information as I can online.

Any ideas of what could be wrong with my boy are very welcome.

I would seek the advice of a vet.

Yes, this is not something to sit back and see if he improves on his own.  If it is stones in his urine, to which wethers are particularly prone, they will block his urethra and he will be unable to pass urine.  This is an emergency and agonisingly painful for the animal.  Please take him to your vet asap.
