Have been lurking for a while but haven't posted much yet!
« on: July 31, 2019, 01:21:29 pm »
Hello everyone,

I've been lurking for a couple of years and only very occasionally posted anything (didn't have anything to say) - but we've now taken the plunge and have just got 3 of these  :sheep:  I'm really enjoying having them around. The plan is to take them to slaughter weight and get a bit of practical experience with them before deciding where we go next.  Have to admit it might be a bit of a wrench when the time comes to send them off - I hadn't realised just how nosy and friendly sheep can be (they were bottle-reared but not by me)!

Thank you.  I like that - hoof to hook!  Has a certain ring to it.

Actually they are tastiest on a plate  :hungry: ;D

Welcome, and you have taken a good approach to learning some of the ins and outs of sheep owning.  We find that having known the sheep we eat makes it easier to appreciate their meat, and what it takes to eat a once living creature.  We always thank them - sounds corny but there it is, and we try never to waste a bit.

We'll definitely try not to waste any of them - though I'm not a huge fan of the more 'squidgy' bits of a carcass - but I'm sure the cats will oblige with anything we can't face :coat:
