Possible poorly Ryeland ewe?
« on: February 06, 2019, 09:47:28 pm »
Hello!

My Ryelands are currently getting along fine-the two ewes are both due lambs.  I haven't had the chance to see them today but someone who lives where they are kept has mentioned that one of the ewes is breathing very heavily and shaking a lot.  Does this mean that it is about to lamb?  Or is it something else that I should be worried about?

They are wormed, have a lick and are given a bit of feed and plenty of hay so I'm not 100% sure as to what it could be.

Would be grateful for any advice/help:)

Thanks

It could be a number of things.
I would recommend you check her over yourself and if she doesn't look normal to you it may be worth a vet visit.
When are they due to lamb?
She may be lambing, she may have something like milk fever or twin lamb disease which can be life threatening if not treated promptly, or it could be something like pneumonia which can also be quickly fatal.
Hope you get her sorted out and feeling well.
