my 6 girls are doing very well

so i have just offered to take on three more (much younger stock) that a friend needs to move on!!!

im hopefully getting a buff o, a white leghorn and a lavender leghorn...(I know odd combo)

why do i think in a year i may have a garden full of chickens and no plants left anywhere!!!

if i had more space life would be even more interesting...

i really want to do bigger stuff as well but thats a few years away in reality.

Yep we started with 6 because the kids pestered me to have some at that time i couldnt even pick them up now 4 years later we have 150!

definitely. i have 5 and four are laying and one of those eggs was a double yolker!
they run up to me now and are very happy in their extended run

of our 6 three are laying regularly and 1 is an occasional

they come and crowd round the gate of the run as soon as we go out and 2 of them are happy to be handled as well which is useful with the kids.

slowly working out what treats really float there boats, (they seem to eat anything, but clearly have favorites as well)

I started with 4 Buff-O's now have a mixed flock of 35!  ::)

bloomer iff you did whot you said it would be good doing it .then you would think whot have i done .i have a small set up big to some people small to me i have 200 rare breed sheep 2 pigs and 53 pens off the rarest breeds in total 250 chickins chicks 150 and ducks geese quail a nother 200 all in food bill 130 pounds a week . i start at 530 to six in the morning stop at 11 for 1 hour and then back till 5 6 or 7 in the evening thats a normal day 7 days a week in the winter even harder round bales for the sheep more bedding for the birds etc . iv made this very hard need more money to keep going .i have no sales on the eggs incubating has stopt no money coming in just stock to sell to keep going it is not fun eney more its hard work so think on . i dont think there is money in it eney more .i still ow 3000 pound i have the lambs to sell and the black rocks but thats it for a nother yere i dont own the farm im a tenant croft .i have  American buckeye - aracuna lavender -
cochin silver cuckoo - croad langshan bantam- dorking silver red white-
duck aylesbury cayuga chilean teal red crested pochard mandarin - geese
hawaian red breasted -hamburg gold laced. -indian game blue
laced. -ixworth. -jersey giant blue. -orpington buff choc lavender black

id only ever do it as a hobby/ way to know where my foods comming from id never want to do it as a business!!!
