Spare a thought for South Islind New Zealanders this evening.
« on: September 07, 2010, 10:51:42 pm »
My friend Chris who lives 5km form the epicentre of these earthquakes and has had her possessions ripped apart has sent this map.  it shows all the shocks as they happened in a timeline and the size of them.  Fortunately no-one killed and only a few injured.  That in itself is a miracle.

Bloody hell, that must have been terrifying. My thoughts are with the folk who endured that traumatic event.

That is terrifying  :(  They seem to have just gone on and on.  Hopefully the earth has settled down now and that's it over.

Pray also, and perhaps give what you can, for the people of Pakistan, who have lost lives and homes in their millions.

Is it significant that they have had no mention here yet New Zealand has?

Perhaps because I have a close friend right at the epicentre (3kms from the opriginal quake!)- does anyone on here have a close friend in Pakistan? Be sensible Rosemary, we all think of things when it hits home.  I have already contributed more than I can afford to the Save the Children appeal for Pakistan!  I put my money where my mouth is, how many others do that!

I have to say that living in the middle of Birmingham highlights to me that the Pakistani community is the one with money. Some very flash cars going around with blacked out windows and gold draped around it's occupants. Young guys too! Our Indian friends are more than happy to point them out.
