Hi, with the continuing warm weather I'm worrying about strike, as I only have 3 at the moment, and waiting for neighbour to start shearing, it's not practicle for me to buy a bottle of Clik or similar.
I do have Spotinor, but it doesn't seem clear whether it's a suitable preventative.
Or would I be better just spraying with a very weak solution of Jeyes fluid,  which I ended up doing last year.

Actually, although it's sold as a  maggot killer, it will also kill and deter the green bottles responsible for the maggots, so you can use it.
But with only 3 sheep it is fairly easy to keep an eye on them and look out for any tail wagging, biting at fleece or unusual behaviour. If you're worried because they have mucky backsides, then it's worth trimming and applying to that area to deter the flies.

I would suggest reading the data sheet which specifies Established blowfly strike only .  It works by being absorbed into the skin layer and travels all around the body and kills anything that bites eg lice ,keds ,ticks and biting flies  , Blow flys do not bite they lay eggs which turn to maggots  which can live on the skin .   This is the same reason Crovect  applied as a pin stream for ticks and spreads via lanolin on the skin will not kill adult blowflys as they don't bite just lay eggs in the wool

How about trying Dynamite? It's cheap and a little goes a long way. Someone on here recommended it a few years back and I am still using the same bottle which was about a tenner at the time.

Can't see anything on the label about being for humans. It gives instructions for dogs, cats, horses, smaller animals and birds. No mention of sheep but, either I have been very lucky, or it does the trick. I dilute it 10ml to 1 litre of water and give them several sprays once a week.
