Hi

Just been out to look at my tomato plants which are just lined up against the south side of the house. They are chock full of green toms - but not showing much sign of going red. I would prefer them to vine ripen than bring them indoors but with the rubbish wet August we are having, does anyone know when really I should be giving up on growing them outside and bringing them in  . . . It still seems fairly warm outside despite the rain, but we are almost in September and it will be getting cold soon.

What are you all doing with yours?

I am in the Midlands so should have ok weather really.

cut all the leaves off then they will get as much sun as possible

green tomato chutney mm  gorgeous on ham butties ....drool will try to find recipe its somewhere around

Try putting Banana skins near the tomatoes. They will help to ripen them.

Nicky is it ok to take all the leaves off?? Am worrried about killing them if I do that?!  Am clueless

At the moment i only have stems and tomatoes in a bid to get as many ripe as possible the light must get to them
well thats my theory anyway.. i pick mine as soon as they start tto colour and ripen in house. that way next can ripen
has worked so far anyway
