and facebook page- SheepWatch UK.

Foxes, badgers and crows I can work against but I live in dread of this happening to my sheep :( .

Horrific. People can be so thoughtless and stupid. I can't imagine how I would feel,  it just makes me so angry.  My girls are next to a minor road so dogwalkers tend to hhave their dogs on a lead but I know of one alsation that is walked early morning off the lead . I'll not sleep tonight now.

It is sickening and heart breaking to arrive at your field and see your livestock mauled and dead. I am trying to electrify as much as possible but I'm still worried it won't be enough.

Has anyone tried the LED overnight deterrents like Foxlights? I'm not sure how useful they'll be as we have had dog attacks during the day too but I'm thinking of trying them and I wondered if anyone else had tried them.

It is horrible.

last month i had two attacks on my lambing flock.

one in lamb ewe, half her face ripped, one in lamb ewe chased through a fence, badly cut legs, one in lamb ewe dead and others with bite marks on their legs.

result?  vets bill, the dog shot dead by a neighbour whose ewes were also attacked.  Police involved, statements given, owner identified.

I had to be very firm with the police about charging the owner (local)  apparently even though it is an offence for any dog to be at large, the owner did not have any previous criminal convictions so the CPS guidelines are that they should not be charged and taken to court  :furious:

A neighbour of ours once let his dog run our sheep, apparently it was my "fault" as I hadn't blocked up a hole under the fence dug by a fox.  I pointed out that since I ran a closed, registered pedigree flock the loss of one ewe would lead to the consequential loss of 266 lambs over an average ten year productive life (daughters, grand-daughters and their offspring, etc.) and that's the amount I would be suing him for, he took on board that when the law states dogs should be kept under "close control" it means a lead, not the dog haring off across a field 300 metres away.
