Caesarean

One of my first-timers had to have a caesarean after neither I nor Vet could deliver the first of her twins. Unfortunately the first, a big lamb, was born dead. The second lamb started off fine but got very cold while mum was being stitched up so I took her away to warm up and the ewe didn't want to know when I tried to put them together again. In hindsight I wish I had persevered with them both and done things differently but on a positive note, the lamb was successfully fostered on to her grandmother who had a single the following day.

So, the lamb is thriving and I am keeping a close watch on the ewe. She is on her feet, eating (hay and grazing only) and drinking well enough and the wound is clean. I am milking her off just a little twice a day. However 10 days after surgery I have a suspicion she is not urinating properly and saw her produce just a few drops this evening when I was checking her (it smelt ok to me). Otherwise, although now thin, she is reasonably bright in herself and her temperature is normal.  I will speak to my Vet in the morning but wondered if anyone has experience of this and any advice to offer.  Thank you.

Did the vet recommend continuing with antibiotics for a while? If not, I suggest having  word with him.  One of mine got bumped and went into labour early, although the twins were small but strong and all's well, but the wound began suppurating after a week or so and she's now on Betamox LA every other day.
