Heard about this series, and the books, but never read or watched.  Is it a good series?

I love it - it's quite violent and a fair bit of pretty graphic sex, but great story with lot of intertwining plot lines.

I read the first four books (and loved them) before watching the series and spent a lot of time saying "what happened next" and " did this happen in the book?". Series 5 I hadn't read the book and enjoyed the series more because I wasn't trying to second guess it. I think the plots in the books and the series have diverged a bit now. The production values of the series are incredible.

Personally I was never allowed to watch it in my house due to the said above by rosemary. I could never stomach 15's anyway, let alone 18's (not that I have watched 18's though) as I am quite sensitive.

I don't like violent stuff either - I have to get Dan to watch it first then tell me if he thinks I would like it. Like I hated "Reservoir Dogs" - never got to the ear cutting off scene but I liked "Django Unchained". I can't do horror and I have to say the white walkers in GoT totally creep me out and I watch those bits from behind a cushion. But I do that with Dr Who too  :)

I have read and enjoyed the books but not seen any of the films.
