Movement licences
« on: December 12, 2015, 03:27:46 pm »
A month or so ago we borrowed a billy, collected by a friend and kept at his place,  to share things out I said I'd take him back.
Question is, if I'm not receiving or departure keeper, that makes me haulier, ? If it's less than an hours drive, do I need some sort of hauliers license or are short trips OK.?
He's ready for going back soon and this has just occurred to me.

You are only taking ONE animal and not as part of a commercial activity, so I would just quietly complete the form with your car registration etc on it as the haulier, CPH of the one he is leaving and the one he is going to. Can't see this being a problem. Get your friend to sign it off (s he is the current keeper) and the owner to sign him off on arrival (as the receiving keeper). No idea if in England the haulier has to sign too, here in Scotland there doesn't seem to be a space for it on the form....

He's ended up coming to me for a week or so, so problem solved, problem is owner isn't answering my emails, guessing he wants me to keep him till after christmas :)

No, partly he was happy the boy was out of the way for a while, he'd lost the use of some land so it eased pressure on him a bit,
partly with 7-8 goats to cover and wait 3 or 6 weeks, including one I'd just missed, it was easier to leave it open. Boy isn't a problem, hes quiet and easy to handle (boer), its just not knowing how long.
Annoying thing is, I arranged everything, but one Boer girl held to the Togg male dispite injection at vet, another girl (milker) didn't hold, couldnt get hold of my friend to get her there in time last week, (next chance would mean kidding in June, so Ive decided to run her through), hopefully boer youngster has held to him. so thats one against 7 of other peoples :-(.
