Crovect pour on to tackle ticks
« on: October 30, 2015, 08:50:51 am »
Lots of ticks around us just now I have used crovect on them a few weeks back but I found some on them recently in spite of dosing them but what I wanted to know is can I use the product again safley before the ten weeks it's supposed to do the job for

Maybe try a different product,  what about Spot-on?

Got a lot of crovect here and they are lambs so they haven't had a lot of it in the past so I don't really want the expense of another product. Just wondering if anyone uses it more regular than what I says on the tub??? If so how often is safe?

I haven't really gone into the details of how often you can use it. But when I have had a case of fly strike I have used it repeatedly on the affected area. And on a sheep that lost one side of its bag due to mastitis. The last thing I wanted was the poor old ewe getting strike on the udder as well.

Regards, Dave

Thanks daveh everyone says how bad the stuff is but I have had it on my skin and I didn't have any reaction at all, then again my skin probs isn't the most sensitive. I wouldn't want to harm the animal that's all but I'd rather give it more if i can just to make dam sure these ticks don't cause any hassle. I'm picking them up just now along with the dog so god knows how many are in the fields

Yes you can use earlier .       Did you put on enough ?           Won't stop ticks on the face as gravity makes it spread in the lanolin down from the spine .      Crovect is a nerve toxin !

I put what they said to on I have just given them another dose I put another 10mls on this time though to be sure. Couldn't catch one crafty little bugger but the rest have had another batch. Can't stand ticks at all. I just didn't want to harm them as they are doing so well. Hopefully that will keep them away for the foreseeable
