Goose surprise
« on: October 17, 2015, 07:14:39 pm »
Went to feed our young geese this morning and found three eggs that had rolled from under the hedge. A real surprise as we are raising them for the Christmas table and were not expecting any eggs. :o  We collected the goslings on 31st May and were told that they were 14 weeks old. That makes them 33 weeks (6 months) old - I think.  They are Chiltern Greys and  free range on lots of grass and have some additional grain twice a day. They weigh  between 5.5kgs and 6kgs. Is this normal or did the breeder underestimate their age???

Don't most birds start laying around 6 months?
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
