Thinking about keeping turkey
« on: September 10, 2015, 10:08:29 am »
Hi folks,

We are thinking about keeping a couple of turkey's for Christmas. Been trawling the net but can't find any information on what housing they need. We have a pig ark which will be empty over winter. It's made of recycled plastic, the same material as our hen house. Could easily build a roost for them for inside.

What do people think?

Should be ideal, if you get the heavy commercial type they'll not roost for long before they're too heavy to fly anyway.

Thanks clans man. We still need to come and visit you. Just got busy over the summer.  OH is back end of next week, perhaps we could arrange then?

Now I don't feel so bad lol. Messaged you back in march I think. Asking to come and pick your brains about raising table birds. Was supposed to get in touch....... But time flies.

A fox proof shed and a bit of a run should be enough for 3 mths until xmas.

Hi,

Has the ark got a floor in it?. Turkeys don't like to be damp or wet all the time
