hii,, i have a chicken and two ducks, they are kept together and the chicken has lost alot of its feathers underneath now they where on straw but someone keeps changing to hay. now they are not mited aas not my choice to put them on straw also her diet has changed serval times from mixed corn to layer pellets. we took her too the vets they said it was just an infection but im not entirely sure it is as all of the above factors are somethink to consider also will moving her away from the ducks kill her ?? she is also a light sussex but underweight and i do give her layer pellets but the owner of the ducks lifts them up and puts down corn. also im new too looking after poultry and only a lad so would appreciate any advise given.

I'm not entirely sure of the question, but are you sure she isn't just going through  molt, and has become irritated on the exposed skin, that would normally be covered by feathering? i have 3 LS and they do seem to become irritated when they moult,

if you think it is the ducks that are pulling her feathers then i would consider moving her, and upping her feed per day, killing wouldn't be my first thoughts, unless she is looking in pain i would leave her.

Good Luck

there is no obvious signs of feather pecking that i can see the vets put her on antiboitics but i think it might be somethink like change off food as she has been changed so many times
