Pups push chair!!

Now I have anothe pup and some time to think, I have a small cadge that with some gaffa tape I can strap securly onto an old pram base from the tip and take both Rohan and Rhum out with Islay and Ben when they go to the woods, letting them out toward the end of the walk fo a bit of excercise, that way, Ican go out and lean on the cadge, help my mobility, kep the pups safe and get them used to the area and the car and still be with my lovely better half...sorted!!!

We have a couple of spaniels. The older one has had a stroke and while it has largely recovered, it can't walk any distance. When they need to 'stretch their legs', it gets distressed if it can't keep up. So we now have a dog buggy which it hops into when it has had enough walking. This means it can join in the walks (as normal) and doesn't need to be carried.

The buggy is like a toddler's push chair. It folds up to go in the car and has a box shaped carrier into which the dog can be deposited. There is a cover which can be zipped closed if necessary.

The only problem with it is that the small wheels don't cope with rough or soft ground very well.

I know this sounds like a bad joke but dogs like to travel with the family 'pack' and ill-health can lead to problems in this respect. The buggy solves the problem.

Our buggy came second hand from a local charity shop for a couple of pounds. I've seen shopping trolleys with a similar design if a buggy isn't available locally.

Well done. I have 3 Cocker Spaniels, 2 of which have been in poor health recently. They are now all in season which is the last thing that one of them needed after what she had been through. When the 2 that have been ill come in to season they do not want to walk so we have to be quite forceful that they get out and do their business. No pram would help them, I think the bissums need a rocket to get them moving.

Because I am of the old school of dog breeder and possibly because I have a range of ages in my dogs, I wouldn't use a carriage of any sort.  If they are too ill to use their own legs they just exercise in the garden(Freckles has a cruciate ligament injury and is on cage rest, so only gets out to do ws and ps, then back in her cage, hopefully it's only temprary then she will be with Allez and Belle), if they are old or young they don't need as much exercise, so they have shorter walks (Bobby is 4 months, Hester is 13 years and has arthritis, so tehy walk half a mile on lead twice a day - its enough, Bobby ill be with the big dogs one day), fit healthy guys have much longer (Allez and Belle have their hour free running plus half an hour road walking)  Makes for a busy day, but it's my choice to have them and I put the time in.  Sorry, but puppies get exercised separately from adults in my book.
