I used to be on this forum all the time!
Never had notifications set up so when I stopped coming on didn't know about replies. Sorry I never came back!
Just to clarify - Scooby is still with us - ancient as she is!
Why?
My thoughts exactly. Why have a working dog to the age of 10 and then re-home it?
We rehomed Scooby when she was (we were told) around 8 years old, that was in 2010 so we had had her 2 years. Her owner kept her out in a kennel and she was a proper working dog there. He dropped dead and all his numerous dogs had to be rehomed.
Suspect it eats hens
Spot on I'm afraid Rosemary! I was VERY upset when I posted the ad, she had walked past the hens on a daily basis for a good while, then suddenly started killing them. Have no idea why!

I daresay mine would too given half a chance
but not a good reason to get rid in my opinion, mine just don't get the chance. Hens and dogs kept separate at all times - not that difficult.
Clever comment! Thanks! The hens are free range and the dogs get walked! And since we had never had a problem with the dogs previously why would either need to be locked up - we were using lead for Scoob at this time but then the labrador started getting out the kennel and letting out Scooby too. So reasonably difficult yes, at times.
Let's not make assumptions or jump to conclusions. I'm sure Leri will come back with the information required by someone who may be able to rehome the dog.
I'm sure she's not looking for a critique of her dog management skills, she's trying to rehome a dog
We've been here before on "marketplace" type topics.
Thank Rosemary - and sorry that I did not! I was really upset at having to get rid of her but felt awful as we had rehomed her and she killed a couple of mum in laws hens so could see no other way.
Things all settled down again after (apart from fox trouble)
Scooby is still here - she is ancient, am sure she was older than the owner's sister said - although to be fair am sure she was just guessing.
Photo taken today. Dopey hens going in the kennel - got them out after taking photo - asking for trouble - but good to see she has given up chicken meat
