paper logs
« on: January 13, 2010, 10:40:42 am »
I have just discovered a log maker in the shed. i remember trying it years ago, but it was quite a messy job...does anyone have one and use it successfully? Do the logs from paper burn well? we do have quite a lot of newspaper, so i could put it to good use if it's worth the effoert... :&>

I wouldn't bother making logs from it Sandy - just try one bundle on teh fire - doubt if you'll do it again!  Puppy poo doesn't just stink on teh ground - it's worse on teh fire he he
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Would be a nice aroma!!! Made me smile last night, we were busy with something and Steve was going to take Ben out first, Islay kept going to the door but I thought she just wanted to go for a walk...Steve took her later, anyway, a family were comming to put a deposit down on a Yellow male, they had been fed and the pen cleaned, they rang to say they were 5 min away, I went to Shut the back door after Steve had just left and could really smell some bad *hit!!! I went to the front door and there was a HUGE pile, just behind the door, good job none of our guests walked in as you could not avoid it, I almost ran to find a shovel as I knew they were nearly here, I luckily could get it up in one go, took some baby wipes and rubbed as hard as I could then sprayed loads of air freshener around, came back into the pups to find nearly all of them had woken up and done a pile of poo each, so again a rescue mission...after all, did not want to put them off due to the major poo fest""" all was clear JUST before they arrived and fell in love with the pups.....phew!!! close one.
P.S, the lady that came this morning knew about that sort of thing, she has dogs, one, a lab, died 3, had hip displacia, she said she woke up to a pile of sick n the top of her stairs this morning, she has paid her deposite too......

Yes, we used one in the summer for making logs for the chimnea, to cook our sausages on.
Its messy and time consuming, and I wanted newspaper for the rabbit hutches, but if you've got it - use it. Or sell it!

Never mind the paper logs.................what we done was, poo picked our horses field and made poo bricks and put them onto pallets to dry them out it was last summer so i think we dried them for about a month and then burnt them and they didnt smell like poo but they burnt and smelt like peats, they were fab. Now that we have moved we plan to do the same this summer. Hubby was a bit unsure when I suggested it but now he thinks its a fab idea because its recycling the grass and horse feed I am intrigued to see if our three horses would keep our fire going all year if we got into a routine.....  ;)

I think my hen and duck poo does a better job in the compost heap! And I do not want to think of the cat's toilet  ::) :&>
