Wanted - young cockerel - Scottish Borders
« on: February 12, 2015, 07:35:29 pm »
I need to change my cockerel this spring and am looking for a young (2014 hatch) pure-bred one in order of priority - Copper Maran or Cuckoo Maran, Rhode Island Red or Light Sussex. I would also consider a Welsumer, or any other traditional breed with fairly decent amounts of eggs being laid by the girls. My hens are now nearly 100% Copper Maran, but seem to be not quite as prolific as they were when they were mongrels... hence don't mind cross-breeding.

I have a 2013 hatched Copper Maran boy in exchange if anyone wants one. Fertility proven in 2014.

Scottish Borders or North East England preferred for pick-up/exchange.

Oh rats - mine may not be purebred.  They are sired by one of the copper black marans from darkbrowneggs stock, but from a mix of hens, some pure maran, some not (could be wellie, black rock, barnvelder, or a couple of others).  They're very beautiful.............. :chook: :chook: :chook:  just recently started crowing.
