Bowmont and Bowmont x Dorset rams
« on: November 12, 2014, 05:39:37 pm »
I know I'm getting a bit late in the season for rams but I have one Bowmont ram left (see previous posts) and I am also wondering if anyone would like a Bowmont x Dorset ram of which I have two.  These both have great fleeces and the chunkiness of a Dorset.  One of them is tame and bucket trained the other is a touch more skittish but he has the better fleece.  Both are 3 year old.

If anyone is interested if you could contact me asap as I am going to have them (ahem!) neutered if no one wants them for breeding.  I am asking £120 for the pure Bowmont and £100 for the crosses.  As before, can deliver within 50 mile radius of Corwen (north Wales).

I can email some pics if anyone would like to see them.

stroke of luck that i saw this post!!  Just been mulling over what ram to get to replace my Romney ram that i lost this summer.  Bowmont was suggested by SallyinNorth today as I am keen to put some decent fleece back into my stock. Started off with a Corriedale Ram who produced amazing fleeces.   Rather interested in your Bowmont x Dorset. Firstly i need to breed good lambs with good carcase quality for meat.  As an added income to the meat I get my skins tanned and sell sheepskin rugs, I also sell fleece from my 2 remaining Corriedale ewes.  I have a small flock of 20 ewes.  2 Romneys, 2 aged Corriedales, and a mixture of suffolk crosses and welsh crosses.  Anyway, thats my history!!

Do your rams every throw any coloured lambs?  I have 2 brown welsh type ewes.  Really keen to get more colour in the predominantly white flock.  Could you email some pics?  I am down in Hampshire, will have to work out how to transport if i want to buy.  What are their feet like, have read that some people have problems with Bowmont feet.

Sorry for the rambling!  email is [email protected]
