Leg ring sizes

I have started using leg rings this year as we are now taking the whole breeding thing more seriously and make a nice little income from hatching eggs.

I'm a little confused about sizes though. I need to buy about 100 rings for the growers I have on the way. Breeds are Copper Marans (large strain), Ixworth, Rhode Red (trad large strain), Light Sussex (trad large strain), Exchequer Leghorn and Welsummer.

Guides seem to say 20mm for the large birds and 16mm for the leghorns. But eBay sellers say 16mm and 12mm respectively. Obviously cockerels need larger ones than their hens.

What do you put on a big Marans hen / cockerel or a skinny Leghorn.

20/22mm for large fowl like Ixworths, 18mm may fit some other breeds.
Tucked away on the downs in wiltshire.
