Overwintering a pregnant pig in an outside arc isn't acceptable to me. I'd love to see her go to a home and be useful but £80 would be an insult considering what she has cost to raise. If someone only wanted to pay that, well frankly, I wouldn't trust them to spend money on welfare matters either - or decent housing...... she'd be better of in the freezer than living under poor conditions.
Perhaps I need to rethink this...... Is that really all she is worth to someone who wants to raise their own non-pedigree meat like us?
The 80 quid I quoted was just a ballpark figure based on what I've seen  Unfortunately there's no room for sentiment as far as selling livestock is concerned. It's also not fair to say that a keeper's welfare standards are based on what a pig might cost to buy, that's just ridiculous. The fact is that there are hundreds of people across the country feeding pigs that they can't get rid of for whatever reason and sometimes thay have to bite the bullet and send them to a sale. I'd go with the advice here that she would probably be best taken to slaughter by yourself. After all she'll be worth a lot more than 80 quid as sausages and you'l know she hasn't gone anywhere you wouldn't like. Keeping pigs is tough at times and hard decisions have to be made.

that is about the basic price for meat if selling as a cull sow if she was, im guessing, 120kg live.
