Brucellosis Test
« on: June 04, 2014, 10:25:09 am »
Well the lady from Animal Health turned up yesterday and blood tested 14 of my sheep (13 breeding ewes and 1 x ram).  All went mostly to plan except the ram had obviously been eating some race horse cubes as he was determined not to follow his two wether mates in to the yard and took me on a merry dance around the paddock and then the garden for quite some time.  I didn't realise he had it in him to sprint so fast!

The lady from AH was very surprised that every sheep tested just stood still whilst she took the blood for them and commented that all previous sheep she has tested had to be backed in to a corner to hold them still.  I just lightly held them in the open area of the enclosure and all was fine.  Dot one of my last years ewe lambs and who is a particular character was full of mischief as usual and was keen to not only grab the paperwork through the bottom of the hurdle but also grabbed a mouthful of the AH lady's hair as she was bent down to put the syringe in Dot's neck.

I do hope I don't get a recall or any other subsequent "random" test requests for some time to come though!

Glad it went well  .  I wonder if it was the same lady who tested ours 2 years ago? We are not a million miles from you ;)
