« on: May 27, 2014, 06:34:15 pm »
Anyone done it before? My weaners all off a sudden decided they no longer want too be trained to the fence and started too dart through.....don't really want to put a stock netting as all my other pigs are trained to electric

Too risky IMHO - if a pig was to get tangled (esp. a young weaner) it could end up in quite a state - potentially dead if it's a mains fence.

Have you tried adding another wire to your existing fence? Is the current strong enough?

double check the earth, that can affect the zap.
if they do get tangled they can die of heart failure within the hour.

Don't use poultry netting, I used it when we first had pigs before fencing sorted. One of the weaners got caught in it and got totally tied up. Luckily a passing neighbour noticed, I was at work and came in and had to cut it out with a knife, luckily it was ok.
Everyone makes mistakes as the Dalek said climbing off the dustbin.
