Joan (of Arc)s litter are now 6 weeks old   They are adorable.

They are saddlebacks (Essex) and I am using the Berkshire Pig website food and weight guide....

I have a pig tape which starts at 60cm which is 37kg liveweight.

According to the Berkshire chart the piglets should be between 11.5 and 16kg now to be on track.

using the tape they are between 51 and 54 cm in girth.  Does anyone know what this converts into in liveweight.  Most charts seem to start at about 60cm

Any help would be appreciated

I weigh lambs and kids standing on bathroom scales.  Could you do the same for these.

Exactly what we used to do.   You need two people, one to hold and stand on the scales, one to read and note weights, and the whole thing needs to be done very quickly as there is an awful lot of bouncing and jiggling from squirming piglets.  And put the bathroom scales on a nice hard surface first.  We could do them like this up to 10 weeks old.

I've never weighed a piglet. Can't really think of any reason why I'd want to either for that matter.

we used bathroom scales then the measure tape when they were too big to carry. i cant remember the equation but im sure youl find it on the forum if you search back a couple of years as i remember people discussing it.

we weighed ours for worming, and also for comparing weights from different litters.

We quite often weigh piglets (recording growth rates) and we use a hanging luggage scale and a large Ikea bag

What a good idea... I actually did length and girth and they came out between 12.2 and 17.1 kilos at 6 weeks.  I find it easy to have big piglets.... but from about week 15 they slow down.  That said I am using a Berkshire guide for Saddleback pigs.....
