Hatching eggs hunt! Maran / Barnvelder / Welsummer
« on: April 30, 2014, 07:48:54 pm »
Hi, I am on the hunt for some Maran hatching eggs for sale, I'm looking for very dark strain of egg layers preferably Cuckoo or copper and would rather go and collect instead of use the post. I am also looking for Barnvelders and or Welsummer eggs. My speckled Sussex is showing some signs of going broody, we had a little chat today so  :fc:

We are in the Tamar Valley by the way! thanks!

we've  bought hatching eggs at hatherleigh poultry market before,  every  Tuesday ( I think) usually a very large selection of breeds.

For lovely Marans (black and blue copper) eggs, try Haytor Reach on Dartmoor. We had some off them and they were superb.

Thanks you for this, I may have to try here, Hatherleigh market is an experience I have been meaning to try for a long while. But you never know 100% what you are truly getting with eggs from market, other than the colour. I'm probably a bit fussy but want to keep a cockerel back from this hatch and know he's pure bred.

I have Marans laying between a grade 6 & 7 on the colour scale all eggs/hens are ordered/sold through to mid July, but if you were happy to wait then we can sort something out.

We are not too far away just up the road in soggy bottom, oops I mean Dawlish
