can chickens eat squash?

always looking for new ways to enrich their pen are they allowed squash to peck at?

I give mine overgrown courgette, they love it! I cut off some of the skin along the long side and they hollow it out, seeds and all, so squash should be ok.

Mine love courgettes and pumpkins ..... same sort of thing so guess they are okay.

well apparently it was very exciting as it was yellow...


it got attacked, then they gave up and went to bed, i'm sure they'll finish it tomorrow!!!

Ours love courgettes and squashes as a treat - I just cut them in half - eventually i just have to pick up the outer skins - theres nothing else left of them.
If you cant beat 'em then at least bugger 'em about a bit.

We have the same experience as Q. They eventually eat the lot leaving just the skins. I avoided giving them large seeds like pumpkins though as I was concerned about impaction.
