Thanks guys for all the replies, and thanks Julie for the Lay my Hat link, I may be addicted already...

I have been looking for a suitable property for a while ( and still not sure when we might be able to move) and a lot with up and running s/c units are around. Even fully furnished ones. Very tempting.  As eventually I plan to be on the small holding full time Saturdays will not be an issue for me.

I know I have a lot of research ahead.  I just wanted to know if in theory it works.  

When we were looking for a s/c cottage for our hols in two weeks we looked at literally hundreds in Scotland, most were fully booked and the rest only had either a few days or one week of our required dates available.

Thanks again and any further insight most welcome.  I am sure I will have a few more questions shortly.
