Hi,
In anticipation that I get nice healthy lambs this year I'm hoping to sell a couple of half lamb carcases (butchered into joints).
What will the slaughter charge be approx.
What could I charge for the half lamb.

I paid £24 for killing hung for three days and Butchered. Between 65-75 a half

I can get them killed, hung on site and butchered after 3 days for £12.50 but I thought that they could ony be for own consumption and it was not legal to sell.  Wondering if this is indeed true.

did you mean hung at your place? if so im sure you cant sell it on unless its a registered butchery or such.

I get £70 a half £80 if they want minted lamb burgers. Killed and cut I pay £14 if you can get the customers it' sells itself I have orders off 8 halfs each year now from friends and work friends

It depends where you are, we pay £20 just for slaughter and anything from £25-40 on top for basic butchery

You can't sell it or give it away unless it's butchered in a licensed cutting plant/butchers, only feed it to yourself and immediate family living at the same address. Which means in places with either not much competition or butchers who don't really want the bother,,it can end up costing £££


Or you maybe lucky and find a good butcher or abbatoir do it inside for a good price.

We have been paying £28.50 for slaughter and butchering with basic clingfilm wrapping but we have just found another abattoir that does slaughter butchering and wrapped onto the trays the shops use and they only charge £18.50 all inclusive so we are going to give them a go in the new year 
we charge £60 a half or £120 full

Quoted prices seem to vary between abiout £60 and £85 for a half carcass. Is this due to regional variation or different carcass weights.  Our lambs, only for own use, tend to be on light side as born late to avoid Smallenberg and only fed on grass with no concentrates.


Thanks Shygirl they are holding hung and as suspected can only be for home use.

We pay £25 for kill and cut (£12 and £13 respectively). Sell any remaining meat for £70/half.

Thank you all for the info.  My lambs usually go to local market at about 45-47k live weight. Good meat/muscle cover.  Thought to take them to Tregaron as they did our pigs last year and I know that I'll get my own meat back.  Very good on the butchery as well.
 
Anyone on here take theirs there?
 
Would like to know what is their butchery cost for lambs?
