We're in a nitrate vulnerable zone. Just downloaded nine booklets - that will be my bedtime reading for the week  ::)

We couldn't tell from the useless map whether we were or not - and we got a letter from the Ministry recently about it.

We went into our local SGRPID  & they looked us up on their database - luckily we're just outside it. Phew!

Good luck with the bedtime reading - at least you'll be asleep really quickly  - nothing like a government document to make the eyelids droopy...

We're in an area of NVZ too I think, but as we have no watercourses, don't do any spraying and use well water so avoid strong chemicals I'm not surprised they don't seem v interested in us. Also we don't house the animals so no muck to spread except horse poo.

It's more to do with fertiliser spreading, organic and non-organic, that it's concerned with rather than spraying. The chap at SGRPID was really helpful and said he thought we were insignificant  but suggested that we should keep proper records just in case we were inspected.

Since we don't spread much fertiliser, it will be more of a task to remember to record things rather than the recording per se. Since we claim Scottish Beef Premium, we are covered by cross-compliance, so we have to conform.

Jeez, I'm starting to sound like a real farmer ::)
