I have some strongly made galvanised sheep hurdles with mesh bottoms which someone wants to buy


Any idea what I should ask for them


They originally came with those 3 hole linkers but a lot have broken off, mind you they werent much use anyway - I tied or wired them together

How wide / long?

We expect to pay £16-£20 for the strong galvanised ones in as-new condition, maybe £12-£14 for the less strong type. 

Add a bit for the mesh, take off a bit for the broken linkers.  Don't sell 'em for less than a tenner each, maybe more dep, condition and size.

Yes - I would agree with SiN. New ones without mesh are on eBay for £13 so I would say between £8 and £10 depending on condition.

Condition is excellent apart from the fact some of the links are off.  And they are far superior to the stuff they sell nowadays


I do have a couple of the lighter ones which never stood the test of time though they are still perfectly useable so I will put those in at £5 each


They have all been in the barn for the last  15 or so years, and only got moved out this spring.


I think I will go for around £15 each once we have got them out and looked them over.  As I say they are good ones and have not been knocked around much.  They were only used for my half a doz ewes as indoor winter lambing pens.


So much of the galvanised stuff comes in from abroad now.  On the chicken side there is simply no comparison between the British Eltex brand and the new ones.  The feel like they are made from thick foil, whereas even  rusted 50 year old Eltex feel as though they will last longer
