I am having trouble sexing some orpington bantams. They are 15 weeks and look like pullets bar having quite big combs. When would v they start getting v tail feathers and more neck feathers? My other breeds have by now or start crowing but these guys are stumping me!

Usually over 20 weeks with Orps to sex Liffy. We have two cockerels that were 'hens' to 26 weeks, then stood upright one morning and 'coughed'. Over the next week the transformation was amazing with combs and wattles almost growing as you watched.

Yep, I have Orps and am completely useless at sexing them - have six week old chicks and can spend hours looking at them trying to work out which have the thicker legs or the more prominent combs. I think it changes every time I look at them. My current cockerel was an 18 week old hen, according to the 'experienced' breeder. Now you couldn't mistake him but he was at least 30 weeks before he started crowing.
