Is it best to vaccinate chickens if they are going to be mixed, when old enough, with the main flock most of which have been vaccinated?  I have read that they could get a form of whatever the vaccinated chucks, were vaccinated against.  Also read that the vaccinated chucks after a while are OK to put with non vaccinated chucks.  Does anyone know about this?  I have some chicks hatching now and want to put them with the main flock when they are old enough, is this wise?  Also  can you vaccinate older chicks or do they have to be done when a few days old?  I put 4 young wyandotte hens in with the flock last year, no problems as they were in with older hens some vaccinated. Then introduced some vaccinated warrens after a few months for more eggs and the wyandotte hens got sick, vets bills, blah blah blah, they all got better but wondered if the new hens were to blame.  Anyone had this?

i have been told not to  unless you have hundereds of birds in close proximity . and if you vaccinate ,, the vaccinated birds carry  the bugs and can kill the unvaccinated birds,,

Mix vaccinated birds with unvaccinated and you may have big problems. They will infect the originals who may not be able to cope with all the viruses at he same time- even though they are the mild immunisation strains. We had this and three weeks of antibiotics and a massive bill. Best to run two flocks and make sure the infected are downwind.
