I am 60 this year and have gained a bit of knowledge over the years and it annoys me that some people think my experience counts for nothing. Drivers who cross well on to my side of the road when passing parked vehicles with no thought of the danger to on coming vehicle.

My chief source of annoyance at the moment is other people ar work (who are paid a lot more than me) expect me to carry out part of their job for them.  I have been saying 'no' and they are now starting to make complaints that i am being 'unhelpful'.  I have pointed out that if OfSted found out that an unqualified person was carrying out certain tasks then the department would be shut down and they would be out of a job.  Why do local authorities continue to employ useless, lazy, incompetent people, that private industry would have out on their ear within the probationary period?

Herdygirl, been in the same situation but at one time I was flattered that they must have thought I was more capable...that flattery,  looking back was naivety as they were giving me jobs they should have done, some people are very good at deligating (being lazy) . Stand your ground, once I did a night shift at a very rough childrens home and was asked to make curtains while there....no way, I said to the manager, I for one cannot sew and for 2, am here to look after the young people and the building not make curtains...he was fine about it.anyway, I am crap at curtain making!

With you on all counts here FW
Another minor annoyance is when in his headless chicken panic mode my OH packs, in his work suitcase, my various chargers thinking they are his.  Electric toothbrush charger went back with him this time and its nothing like his!  Phone charger has also had a trip - it doesn't fit his phone!  Will be so pleased to see my toothbrush charger in four weeks time , oh and him of course  ;) .

FW , calm down dear , calm down !
Yes , that would do it for me too , i would go ballistic .
My pet hate (ok so there may be more than one) , is 'official' people calling me Russell the first time they speak to me , and there after call me Russ .
I tend to just ignore what they are saying until they stop and say " are you ok Russ ?" whereupon i answer " oh  sorry , were you talking to me ?" .
I am only Russell , Russ or Rusty to my friends and family . To 'officials'  i am Mr Clarke .
"Have a nice day " , that does it too .

My OH never puts his tools away and then its my fault we he cannot find them. Drivers on mobil phones do my head in, people who overtake me on a blind bend, shopping, I hate it. Most of the time I sail through my days happy enough but that is because I see no one.

for me - its the people who change the rules of the road and stop to let you out when its not your right of way, its dangerous and makes you look daft if you refuse to cooperate, plus if there was accident then your scuppered as your legally in the wrong.

Or those who just sit there when it's there right of way - and don't signal that they intend to let you go first... Argh!!! I can't mind read! There are some junctions here where you need people to let you go first - otherwise you wait 'til kingdom come - but they have to show that they've not just fallen asleep but actually do want to let you go... ::) (Sometimes I wish there were more traffic lights.)

Couldn't agree more shygirl.  And drivers who stop and signal you to cross the road in front of them with your children.  Why would I want to teach my children to walk in the path of a car?  I wanted them to learn and judge for themselves when it was safe to cross so when I refused to cross he got angry. Years and years ago but I have never forgotten.

Toilet seats..... Why do they always come loose? ???

Because men insist on leaving them up and that puts too much strain on the hinges as they are taking all the weight. That's my theory anyway.

Have to disagree - I can count the number of times my loo has been used by a man on the fingers of one hand (a blind butcher's hand at that) - and my seat still comes loose...

So just for once I think we can't blame men for this evil!  ;D

Shame  ;)
