New pen, on recently grazed pasture
« on: May 26, 2013, 01:07:14 pm »
Thinking of building a new pig pen next to the existing one. It has had sheep grazing on the grass very recently, so my ques is, do I have to worry about worms? Shal I rest the grass for a while before putting any piggies in, or can you cross graze without much worry, because sheep worms cant survive in pigs? New one for me. Thanks all

Best thing to do is get a worm count done (try Supplies for Smallholders website for a DIY kit) and take it from there. If your pigs have been wormed they should be ok on the ground though i've not personally put pigs on sheep ground purposely though thats not to say the pigs haven't got in with the sheep of their own accord :innocent: .
mandy :pig:
