Bet it's a magpie.  My lead duck has been sitting on two marked eggs for a week - just about to candle them - and only one there this morning.  Not rats as the rat poison hasn't gone.  If only I had an air gun!
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

I can't imagine a bird carrying a marble egg off , I have one of these as well and it it really heavy. The ducks don't even shuffle it about as they do with all the others! :&>

Probably moved by the egg fairies, distant cousins of the tool fairies. They're the ones who move your screwdriver, hammer etc from the very spot you placed it 2 mins ago !!!

for about a week I was using the ceramic eggs with the ducks, more or less successfully :). Trouble is, they are not glazed and really do attract muck. This morning I found one that was completely black, where the duck was nesting there must have been a coal bunker a century ago! :&>
