As above - we moved 900 km and the OH has just left Stansted airport and I will set off to meet her in 75 mintes. Distance has less sifnnificance when the travel time is reasonable though the drive is a bit of a pain.

Hi From Shropshire

We moved 30 miles to Malvern, while we looked for a smallholding and then a further 45ish to Craven Arms.

Wouldn't go back  :excited:

South Yorks to Saxony.....40 miles short of Poland. Prices here are ridiculously cheap esp if you want to do a bit of work on the house. Lots of properties have big gardens but not really fields and fields
Our house (8/9 beds) + about half an acre of grassland with fruit trees was 30 thousand euros......A friend bought at auction for nearer 20 and has two biggish fields and two massive barns as well as the huge house and a separate flat that they live in.

Moved 200 miles to come back home to Yorkshire.

I missed Yorkshire but decided I was too Scandinavian to move home so I flitted from Denmark 1000 km. north to an area in Sweden that reminds me of Yorkshire

Wow, further north than Aberdeen, Shetland?

We only moved 30 minutes further out into Essex due to still needing to be able to commute to work.

We moved one mile out of the village to where our house & land are now and still live within 3 - 5 miles of where we both grew up so quite lucky i guess. We managed to do all our house buying & selling in the boom years of the eighties & nineties and made goodprofits. We have an endowment reach fruition at the end of May so thats another good chunk of ye olde mortgage. Wouldn't like to try it now.

Hi

I agree with you Mandy.

It was hard enough buying a house 30 years ago, but not as hard as it is at present. I know there are lots of houses for sale but raising the money is so much harder than it was.

I don't envy my children trying to get on the property ladder.

From North Staffordshire to North Wales. From the home of the oatcake to the home of Lobscowse.
