Been thinking of quail for quite a while now , I am a total novice other than keeping a few chinese painted in the bottom of the canary shed many years ago.
What would be a good starter quail mainly just for the eggs as I have taken a liking to pickled quail eggs

Coturnix Quail is what you need, commonly known as Japanese Quail. Come in many colours and strains.

Hello Sokel    we keep white Texan  and golden giant    both give plenty of pickling eggs   happy to post eggs for incubation if you don't have any luck in your locality
