This may be a silly question, but would a game cover crop (kale / maize etc) be suitable for poultry?

 We've got a spare plot about 75ft square, right next to the poultry area and I was thinking of planting something that would provide chickens & ducks with some extra space, cover & feed in the autumn / winter.  Also maybe the turkeys could have a plot?
