depleted uranium.
« on: March 21, 2013, 06:47:06 pm »
right then, a few months back i entered into a debate regarding the use of nuclear energy in this country and tried to explain that the byproduct of this energy were the nuclear waste tipped bullets that are used by our forces all over the world,
i seem to recall a stat of around 10000 tonnes of depleted uranium bullets having been left in the ground.

10 years on this is having some very nasty effects on the population, particularly amongst babys who are being born seriously deformed and at a density to population that is much higher than even the nagasaki/hiroshima fall out.

if you still support our countrys use of du from energy please take the time to watch this video and then check out the statistics for yourself (cos no-one ever believes me...)

i would warn you it isnt very pretty

Hi DITW,

Couple o quickies - is it only UK or are DU bullets commonly used by other forces also do you know?

Secondly - has there been any studies of our armed forces who, one assumes, come into contact with the aforementioned during tours of duty/arms storage etc? One I would assume they would also be affected due to long exposure/close proximity?
Thanks

DU is used by most 1st world countries as sometimes it is the only way to defeat modern armour the uk regulations relating to storage are vast. This is due to no crown immunity and therefore the blood sucking ambulance chasing lice that do blame claims taking vast sums of money out the uk budget. Most over exposures comes from battle field tourists who get photos while standing on tanks hit by DU. Not having DU rounds means in the future more uk troop deaths. I vote for keeping them.

But then I also believe Israel does the right thing, but thank god I have freedom of opinion, I must thank a soldier for that

Sometimes you have to go with what the majority want even if you think what a load of poo, personally I think America should have been told to take a hike over Iraq, after all Saddam wasn't that bad, he kept his people in order didn't he? After all since we have given them freedom from him all they do is go around killing each other.

Britain does'nt train with DU rounds... They are not bullets .The smallest round With DU capabillity is 30mm For obvious reasons i can't go into to much detail but the last DU rounds used by the british army (other than apache) was the Gulf war1.The reason for this is the logistical nightmare involved in replenishing the vehicle mounted platforms that are DU capable. When used on apache the saftey net for loading/unloading is MASIVE.Im talking full CNB suits and full on precautions.Yes there are potential hazards but they tend to only be used in WAR and whats not hazardess about war..So ill sleep happy in bed tonight knowing that a few are prepared to put there lives at risk so that people have the freedom to post stuff like this on here without fear of retribution

I did(just finnished) 24 years and the support the public gives the armed forces is greatly apreciated by the guys and girls.
Yes DU is nasty ''very nasty''.But heres the thing it's horses for courses. When the h bomb was dropped i doubt  it  was done without much thought. To guarentee a kill when talking about Armoured warfare you have to have a bigger stick than your foe, if DU is whats needed to meet this i'm all for it .I've used it and trust me it works like nothing else we have in our arsenal but that still didnt stop me being a bit worried that when taking it on at a replen the logistics guy's were suited and booted to stop any contamination ,We had nothing !!! And they say gulf war syndrome doesnt exist?????.
On the clean up side of life .yes it worry's me but thats for the government to sort out. At the end of the day whether right or wrong everytime its been used its because the other people stared the conflict and fire sometimes has to be fought with a bigger firestorm

thanks for your frankness. and im sorry that our government dont see fit to properly protect our troops from this stuff.

that is just one of the reasons why i am so anti nuclear.
