First lambs of 2013 for me...
« on: March 08, 2013, 07:32:32 am »
My shearling had her first lambs yesterday evening - 1 x ewe lamb and 1 x ram lamb.  The ewe lamb is the blacker of the two in the photos) All nice and straightforward and lambs a good size, strong and lively.  She was a bit surprised at the arrival of the first but is an excellent mother to them both.  Mum is a Ryeland x Charollais and the dad is my new pure Hampshire Down that I purchased in August 2012.  Chuffed to bits with this first pair of lambs from him.   9 more ewes to go with 2 due at the end of next week and then at various intervals through to 15th April.

Lovely healthy lambs  .  Interesting that mum looks more ike a Charollais, I  have Ryeland x Charollais that look more like Ryeland!  Maybe it depends on which was mum or dad ..
