I hate ironing so when I do get round to doing it I like to have the TV on or a CD. It always amazes me how a song or piece of music can take you back years to something happy or sad. A memory becomes clear as day even if it happened 40 years ago. I expect everyone is much the same, a song that reminds you of a loved one or a special day. Anyway ironing done listening to Adele.

Sabrina, you are right. A piece of music can take you back years. At times I can even remember what I was wearing on the day, yet ask me about last week and I will struggle to remember  :D
I mostly like music that has some beat to it. A sort of go faster beat. Things get done twice as quickly then.

When I hear stuff from the time of my first pregnancy I feel sick.......I only iron pillow cases and some bed linnen but used to put the ironing board in one of the bedrooms and watch TV, usualy a Dr or crime thingy...or escape to the country.
A song that makes me think  :excited:  of my now husband is " Temple of love" by Sisters of mercy.....I was due to go with my daughter but something happened and instead I thought of asking my colledge pal, I WAS married at that time but just about divorced......he said thanks but no, so I did not go either...who knows :eyelashes: :eyelashes:  anyway, we are together still 20 years later!!
Lady in Red always reminds me of my mum, my dad bought her that record,  :'(  and when I hear any Waltzing matilda sung by the pouges I get upset and think of my 2 girlies and grandchildren down under  :'(

the great composto

I remember my mother when I hear Doris Day and Que sera sera - its the only one I associate with her from childhood.

thats so true! i had horrendous morning sickness with my 2nd baby, and my toddler used to watch thomas the tank on repeat while i lay down feeling terrible. now just the sound of ringo starr's voice brings back nausea and terrible memories, and its 10 yrs on now!
i love the music from when i was 19, i would  change so much about my life if i could relive it again!!!

"You are sixteen, going on seventeen" reminds me of my lovely dad waking me by singing it on my sixteenth birthday.  The song that my OH and I call 'ours' is the Stylistics' "You make me feel brand new", not because I love the song but because that's how he made me feel after my ex made me feel like s**t for so many years.
