Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Great pictures - thanks.
How old is the ark? Good little pigs not to eat it or trash it!

The ark is still very new ... its the one I posted about recently here http://www.accidentalsmallholder.net/forum/index.php?topic=30135.msg302605#msg302605

I still need to put some steel strip on the exposed edges but they have been very good and haven't touched it. Internal it is smooth and lined with ply making it very difficult to get their teeth into any of it!

Good luck with the ark.
Our pigs vacated their stone living quarters last week. The hard wood partitions need attention but they have licked/eaten the mortar between the granite blocks and I plan to repoint this and the outside wall of the barn before the new arrivals in a couple of months time.

I would put your steel strips on asap.  My OSB's were very good with their ark and I was feeling a bit smug but then 2 weeks before they went to the abattoir they decided to eat the roof.

That looks like being a job to do on Friday ... its the next time I'll be around in the daylight!

Yesterday I moved them into the other side of the ark - facing away from the cold wind so they have a new area to explore and hopefully it will keep them occupied till then.  :fc:

I absolutely love that close up! Lovely friendly pig
I've noticed that in each of our paddocks there are set pathways.  One from the ark to the feeding area. One to the water, that's it!  Nice brown strips in clean white snow.

It's getting warmer now so I imagine they will all be out and about soon.   We got to 3 degrees here today and a thaw started  :excited:

Our 3 pigs are keeping warm this winter by cramming themselves into one tiny Ark about half the size of that in your picture. They have the choice of a much bigger ark but they go for the small one and cram themselves in. It is hilarious to see the big ginger pig in the doorway and the smaller ones trying to squeeze past her. Then when they are all inside they are lined up close like a bunch of sausages!
