Extra Small Waterproof all-in-ones
« on: January 13, 2013, 09:02:57 pm »
Hi all,

This is actually our first post to the forum, although been 'lurking' for some time! We moved in to our 14 acres on the Carmarthenshire/Pembrokeshire borders almost 14 months ago (seems just like yesterday!) and, having acquired a flock of Greyface Dartmoors and Ryelands over the summer we are facing our first real test - lambing. According to the scans we are (collectively) expecting 50 lambs between now and the end of April which is going to be an interesting challenge!

However, my immediate problem and the reason for posting is more pragmatic!  We bought my husband a wonderful padded, waterproof all-in-one (Dick*$es - a steal at under £30!).  I just wish I could find one that fits me (without inviting a friend to join me!!). I'm a petite size 8 (and I cannot be the only one surely!) and would desperately love to find waterproof, insulated, windproof, sheep proof, muck proof, everything else proof all-in-one overalls that actually fit!!

Has anyone else found a solution?  Our local supplier ordered a small and I've looked on line, but even small is MASSIVE on me - everything is made for the rufty tufty broad chested farmer and not for his more petite version!

Help, ideas, assistance greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Jan (the petite one) and Steve (the normal sized lucky one!)

Hello and welcome!!
I,too, have the same problem as you :)  Have been searching for something like this for a long time, but as I am petite too, have not yet been successful.  I am pretty sure I saw kids sizes somewhere, but not big enough for small ladies.

try the horse catalogues such as robinsons/rideaway/derby house  etc as they do good ones for kids and ladies.

Yep, must definitely be possible in kids sizes - my kids all have very solid windproof, waterproof, muckproof overalls. Unfortunately ours were all bought abroad (mostly in Sweden where they're stocked in every shop because the Swedes are very into their outdoor life). I presume you mean the ones that you wear under a jacket but are over the shoulders - like fishing waders? They normally have long elastic straps so they fit taller as long as you're not wider - my eldest still fits in his pair from three years ago. He's now 4ft 8in so should be wearing 10 to 11 year olds clothes but his are for 7 year olds. So you should be able to get away with 11 or 12 year old ones as long as they've got stretchy straps (I'm assuming you're over 5ft).

Having said all of that, I've just had a quick google and most of the over-the-shoulder ones seem to stop at age 8 - thereafter they're two piece ones with just normal waterproof trousers and long jacket. I was going to try and give you a useful link but have failed - not so much use after all.

What you need is a yachties chandler, they do totally waterproof kit for all sizes, or work nude, Women with small hands are really useful at lambing time where a man sized hand is too big for the job.

I agree with Tizal , try a chandlers website. Living in Wales you could upgrade to a floatation suit!

Why do you want an all-in-one? They are such a struggle to get off when you have to go to the loo! :innocent:

Try muddy puddles, for a wee soul like yourself they might have something.  My boys have worn their muddy puddle dungarees for years and i've found them tough as old boots and totally waterproof.  if they go up to your size i'd say buy these they will do you well!  Your other option of course is let him do all the wet/dirty work while you take pics to post on here for us all to see :D
